Artist Management

How Do It Yourself (And When Not To)
Thursday, April 29, 1:30 PM EST
Whether they call themselves "self-managed" or not, every artist begins this way. But once the momentum picks up, shows start getting a little bigger and more frequent, and fans, media, and industry start paying attention, how does a smart artist continue to successfully and efficiently manage their career?

What skills do they need to have, and how can they ensure they're maximizing their opportunities without losing control of things? In this webinar, we'll discuss how self-managed artists can do it well, and also when is the right time to hire a manager. And if you're going to hire your first manager, who and what should you be looking for?

Hosted by Mike Raine, Editor-In-Chief of Canadian Musician and the host of the Canadian Musician Podcast

Mike will be joined by Helen Britton, CEO at Six Shooter Inc. and artist manager for William Prince, July Talk, Whitehorse, The Strumbellas, Tanya Tagaq, and more!

Mike will also be joined by the acclaimed, self-managed artist Alexander Saint (a.k.a. Alex St. Kitts). Over the last number of years, Alex has become one of the most in-demand bassists in Toronto. He’s also an accomplished singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, with his solo projects including The Projektor and dumbbass. As a bassist, he has shared the stage with JP Saxe, k-os, SATE, Tony Royster Jr., Serena Ryder, Adrian X, Digging Roots, Slakah the Beatchild, and many more. He has also toured with pop-R&B artist Francesco Yates for Justin Timberlake's Man of the Woods Tour, and alongside Ed Sheeran at the Much Music Video Awards. (www.iamalexandersaint.com)
